Workgroups will continue to work on revising the fishing laws before the matter is taken up in parliament. There will, however, be a slight change in the autumn session, which starts Friday.
Adopting these changes will alleviate the government’s need to impose an electronic reporting requirement on trading sites. It will lead to a quick and effective way for the government to administrate catch reporting. This speed and efficiency will also undoubtedly lead to more rationalisation within the fishing industry because there will be detailed monitoring of catches around the clock, said IA’s Ane Hansen, the hunting and fishing minister.
Revision of other provisions on fisheries will continue as planned, including the establishment of several workgroups, as proposed by the Fishing Commission.
‘At a later point I will decide when it is most appropriate to present a new proposal, as I am awaiting the results from the various workgroups,’ said Hansen.
