Arctic Council Nuuk Ministerial Agenda

Monday, May 9

  • 2-6pm: Officials from the eight member states and the six permanent representatives from indigenous Arctic peoples will hold preliminary meetings

Tuesday, May 10

  • 9am-7pm: Officials from member states and permanent representatives conduct negotiations. Day ends with dinner

Wednesday, May 11

  • 9am-5pm: Negotiations between officials from member states and permanent representatives. Most ministers will arrive during the day today. No official programme for evening, but various meetings will be held
  • 6-7pm: Official reception of ministers
  • 7pm: Dinner for ministers at Hans Egede House

Tuesday, May 12

  • 9-10:30am: Boating excursion for ministers. Russian FM Sergei Lavrov arrives in Nuuk
  • 11am-12: Working groups hold informal press conference during which time they will present the results of their scientific studies
  • 12-2pm: Ministers hold closed door meeting
  • 2-5pm: Seventh Arctic Council Ministerial Meeting convenes. Roundtable discussion involving ministers and leaders of permanent delegations. Signing of Nuuk Declaration and Arctic Search and Rescue Agreement. Denmark hands over chairmanship to Sweden. Sweden presents its programme for the next two years
  • 5:15-5:45pm: Press conference
  • 7:30pm: Dinner for delegates

Friday, May 13

  • Ministers expected to hold bi-lateral meetings prior to departing
