The Ilulissat sports hall will be the setting for the Common Concern for the Arctic conference, which begins on 9 September.
The interest in the conference, which is arranged by the NCM, is so great that the sports hall was the only venue large enough to host the three day event.
The conference is seen as a follow-up to the 2002 conference, 'The Northern Dimension and the Arctic Window', which was arranged during Denmark's NCM presidency.
Greenland's deputy foreign minister Inuuteq Holm Olsen said he hoped the conference will help shape EU Arctic policy.
'The EU already has good cooperation with Canada, Russia and also Greenland. We hope the EU will play a more active role with regards to the Arctic.'
Olsen said that even though Greenland opted out of EU membership in 1982, the union is still an important partner for the government.
'The EU is very important to Greenland, partly because of historical connections and partly owing to our EU agreements.'
